Walking tour Legends of Old Tallinn

This is a tour containing exciting tales and legends of Estonia’s capital! During the walking tour you will hear exciting tales and legends of Tallinn, both Upper and Lower Town and see haunting houses.You will also see the Toompea Castle at Dome Hill (Toompea), Nevski Cathedral- the symbol of the Tsar’s power in Estonia, the Dome Church from 13th century and enjoy a breathtaking view from a viewing platform.

Tallinn sightseeing tour

This combined bus and walking tour introduces Kadriorg Park and the 18th century baroque palace of Peter the Great, Convent of St Bridget in the Pirita suburb and the famous Song Festival Ground.
The walking tour in Old Town gives an introduction to the historical heart of Tallinn, which especially during the 15th century was a rich and prosperous town of Hansa merchants. Tour continues from the Dome Hill (Toompea), from Castle Square where Toompea Castle, the seat of the Estonian Parliament is facing the 19th century symbol of the Tsar’s power in Estonia, Alexander Nevski Cathedral. After visiting the Dome Church (13th century) and enjoying a breathtaking view from a viewing platform, the tour continues by strolling along the narrow cobblestone streets down to the Town Hall Square that features the gothic Town Hall from 13/14th century – one of the oldest in Northern Europe.

Rocca-al-Mare Open Air museum

This tour is designed for people interested in countryside lifestyle in Estonia. In Estonian Open Air Museum you get a glimpse of true Estonian countryside and village life the way it used to be in the old times. The museum has a collection of 18th and 19th century rural architecture from all over Estonia. Here you will find almost 100 wooden farm buildings, a wooden church, windmills and a tavern, that still works! All this is grouped together like a village so you get an good idea of Estonian peasant life as it was.

POST-TOURS

The pearls of the National Park of Lahemaa

Tartu – city of good thoughts – CANCELLED

Culture-rich and Hanseatic city of Tartu is the capital of Southern Estonia which is known of untouched nature, rivers and deep lakes. Old farmhouses, picturesque villages and pastoral small towns are typical for this part of Estonia. On the way to Tartu we visit Eivere manor and have a nice lunch there. We continue to Tartu which is the second largest city in the country and the oldest in the Baltic States which has great historical heritage. Tartu city sightseeing includes important sights like the Angels’s and Devil`s Bridges, Toome Hill and Jaani (St John’s) church with its almost 1000 terracotta sculptures survived until today. Dinner and accommodation in Tartu. Morning at leisure for exploring the city or for shopping. After lunch departure to Tallinn.

The tour to St Petersburg will begin with the drive along the Estonian North coast while you hear stories about the life in Eastern part of the country. You will see magnificent Narva castle before acrossing the border. St.Petersburg sightseeing tour will take place in the next morning, where you will see embankments, where every building is a work of art, to the Palace Square with the magnificent Winter Palace, to St Isaac’s Cathedral, one of the largest in the world; you will see many famous monuments and numerous palaces designed by renowned architects – St Peter and Paul’s Fortress, Nevsky prospect, St Basil’s Island, the famous Bronze Horseman, Smolny, and the city’s other highlights. The tour includes entrances to St Peter and Paul’s Fortress and Hermitage museum.

The deadline for bookings is August 11, 2014.

NB! Please note that all tours have a minimal number of participants and must unfortunately be cancelled if this number is not reached. The cancellation information will be sent via e-mail by August 11 and the fee will be refunded after the conference.

All changes and cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Conference Secretariat: conference@tlu.ee
The Conference Secretariat will confirm the cancellation in writing.
The deadline for cancellations is August 11, 2014.
All refunds will be processed after the conference.
